Snares entangle us

“My eyes are ever on the Lord, for only He will release my feet from the snare”
(Psalm 25:15)

Recently I went for a walk on what is now Crown land. I was told to watch where I went
because at one time there were traps set out in that area.

After what should have been a peaceful, relaxing walk, I realized that instead of enjoying the beauty around me, my eyes had been glued to the ground, carefully watching each step for the possibility of a snare.

When King David wrote these words, he knew that to be free from snares, he had to
look to the Lord. The snares he spoke of were not the kind that hold animals, but the kind that hold men, the snare of guilt which entangles us, the snare of pride which fools us, and the snare of sin, that holds each person trapped.

These traps may not be visible, but they are just as harmful.

David knew freedom comes from God. The snares of all our sins are released in the
forgiveness provided by Christ, and along with it comes the victory to overcome all other
barriers. The key is to look upon God’s provision of freedom. A freedom that is given when we seek the forgiveness of Christ that releases us from the guilt of our past, the discouragement of today, and the uncertainty of tomorrow.

Christ has given us a solid rock to stand upon, a smooth path to follow, which can only be found in our relationship with Him, created by our repentance, and seeking His forgiveness.
