“ You are a Priest forever “ Hebrews 7:21

This week is Easter, and we all will be celebrating it. But this day is too often misunderstood. We are not just celebrating a day off work, or off school, nor for that matter are we are just plain celebrating that it’s April 20th. Rather we are celebrating the event that ushered in a new age!

Today we are living in the age of spiritual victory; an age where we have at our disposal the possibilities that were once thought of as impossible.

The reason for this “new age” is because Jesus Christ, who died to bear our sin, is at the present moment alive and active on our behalf. And what is He doing for you today? He became an eternal Priest offering the duties that a priest offers on our behalf before God. That means that today He is hearing your prayers, interceding on your behalf to the Father, and offering up Himself as a sacrifice for our sin.

When Christ rose from the dead, He began a new day in the history of mankind. He became an eternal priest no longer affected by death, One in whom we can turn to at all times and find our salvation. It means that His death on the cross over 2000 years ago is as powerful today as it was then. It means that He is alive today to guide and help us through the problems that we face.

Easter is indeed a celebration, for we celebrate a new age that was ushered in, and we celebrate all that it has brought to those who would turn to Him and seek Him.
As redeemed believers today, we give praise to Jesus Christ our eternal High Priest for the gift of life we have in Him.
